APPLYING FOR BRITISH CITIZENSHIP or INDEFINITE LEAVE TO REMAIN? |
In 2005 it was made compulsory by the government that anyone applying for indefinite leave to remain in the UK or British nationality must pass the Life in the UK Test. People who have a lower level of English or who are unable to read and understand English at entry level 3 do not have to pass this test. Instead they can take ESOL classes with the Citizenship Context. We provide courses for those who wish to apply for British citizenship or indefinite leave to remain in the UK, but have a level of English that would make it difficult for them to pass the online Life in the UK test. The courses take place in our Elephant and Castle centre and are fully recognised by the UK Border Agency and the Home Office. Students study for a minimum of 20 hours. This may take between 2 and 4 weeks depending on the student’s ability. The total course fees are £265. There is a listening and speaking test at the end of the course. On completion successful completion of the course, the student will receive a certificate and a letter of confirmation from the school which can then be used to apply for indefinite leave to remain or British Citizenship. |
